Dig of the month: D’Angelo – VOODOO

D’Angelo – VOODOO (2000)

D’Angelo‘s classic sophomore album, Voodoo is celebrating 18 years this January. An absolutely timeless album  produced by D’Angelo, the legendary neo-soul singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, in close collaboration with Ahmir ‚Questlove‘ Thompson and an extensive line-up of musicians associated with the Soulquarians Collective. Project has been inspired strongly by 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s groove-based funk and soul sound, honoring musicians that are D’s strongest influences such as Jimi Hendrix, Sly Stone, George Clinton, Kool and the Gang, Al Green, and Prince.
